I have found a key to what scares me about my creativity.
I have been having a hard time writing about anything lately. Hence the delayed weekly blog posts. I have all of these ideas running around in my head. They are written on tiny post it notes that fill my car, by my nightstand, in my purse and in a box that holds all the papers from past purse clean outs.
I know that I must write. It is in my blood, I live it. It follows me at every turn. Yet there are times that it scares me. I try to avoid it by adding “stuff” to my schedule/life. I fill my spare time with nonsense and mindless tasks when I should be taking the time to write. I am running away from my creative outlet and it isn’t pretty. I am miserable because when you are a born writer you cannot escape it. You cannot help but silently start a blog post while standing in line at the grocery store or get a super awesome book idea when you are drying your hair.
If you are a writer, a creative or artist this is a must read for you! I mean it. Really. If you are wavering about writing that book or picking up a paint brush or giving birth to that idea you’ve had for a long time this book is for you. Buy it today or get it from the library. You will feel the launch in your gut and bones. “Ideas are alive”
Seldom do I recommend a book to anyone until I finish reading book , or at least having read more than half way. Except for this book. Elizabeth Gilbert’s Big Magic. It is a must for everyone who is creative. Whether you write, paint, sew, design film, cook or anything that draws from your creative these words will speak to you.
