What to give a 13-year-old boy for his Birthday?

What to give a 13-year-old boy on his birthday? My son and all of his close buddies were all turning 13 this year. I was stumped as to what to give them as a gift. I know, most 13-year-old boys only care about a few things, money, cars, games, guns and ammo. But a 13th birthday should be commemorated with a very special gift. He is not yet a man but he is also moving out of boyhood and this birthday should be celebrated well.

I finally came up with something that had meaning and purpose. A gift that I hope will be remembered for years to come. Here is my gift idea and the note attached.

An AXE is for building and fighting

An AXE can be used in building and in fighting. As you become a man you will be asked to build and battle.

Build:

God asked many great men to build. He asked Noah to build an Ark, He asked Moses and David to build altars for His dwelling place. One day you also will be asked to build a home for God’s glory. Haggai 1:8 “Go up to the mountain, bring wood and rebuild the temple, that I may be pleased with it and be glorified,” says the Lord.” “…A wise man builds his house on a rock.”

Battle:

You will be asked to fight the good fight. 1 Timothy 6:12 “Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have confessed so well before many witnesses.”

May this AXE represent your future as a man of God, one who will fight the good fight and build his home and the kingdom for the glory of God.

For fun I throw in a bottle of shampoo/body wash combo aptly named Axe and a small gift card, for that ammo.
