I love the word Celebrate. CELEBRATE brings a smile to my face, especially when it is attached to a day or better yet a party. We celebrate so many things in our lives, graduations, anniversaries, birthdays, holidays, presidents, and childhood milestones. Celebrating Christmas is so very common but do we really stop on enjoy the celebration? Do we celebrate? What do we celebrate?
One of the definitions of the word celebrate is to make known publicly; proclaim. What better way to do this than to put out Christmas lights and to say a hearty Merry Christmas!! These are the two things that I have done more of this season. I (upon the request of my boy) put up extra lights around my home. And I have been saying Merry Christmas as often as I can to as many people as I can this season.
Years ago I started a new tradition with my kids, of making small star ornaments and giving them away. We would make or buy small gold star ornaments and attach a verse that read “We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him.” Matthew 2:2 We would give them out to store clerks, fast food drive through cashiers, strangers in Dr. office and anyone else that needed a pick me up. Giving these out and saying Merry Christmas gets a huge smile and for a brief moment we both celebrate.
I challenge you to share your celebration with those around you and put up lights and publicly proclaim with a MERRY CHRISTMAS to ALL!
